Turning Scars Into Stars
Shenandoah Wellness & Transitional Living Center is a safe and healthy living environment that promotes recovery of injured athletes, veterans with PTSD/Trauma disorders and those affected by substance abuse with participation based on pursuits such as climbing, hiking, running, strength training, yoga, biking, socials and meditation. We seek to help our members develop and maintain the emotional strength they need to stay sober.
The program is committed to improving the physical, emotional, spiritual and economic wellbeing of the participants enabling them transition back into a healthy and fulfilling life.
Sober Coaching is one of the way we offer our clients practical, pragmatic and person-centered learning tools to assist in their personal battles. A Sober Coach is someone trained and interested in promoting recovery by removing barriers and obstacles to recovery by serving as a personal guide and mentor for people seeking, or in recovery.
We provide a level of accountability that the recovering community cannot be expected to provide and a connection to the client in their own living environment that treatment programs are simply unable to offer.
Work is necessary for the physical and emotional recovery of members with substance abuse or PTSD disorders. Our wellness center offers focused member-specific interventions to increase their employment prospects. Training includes work demonstrations, job-seeking and placement services, personal competency and skill-building programs, and other vocational supports.
Physical or mental disorders affect not only the individual but also the immediate family that surrounds the patient. It is important that the family is treated, in addition to the individual, when it comes to recovery.
We provide families with a structured environment to address their issues in a private setting. Families are welcome to attend the family group sessions that we offer.
SWTLC is passionate about the mental health benefits of physical fitness and recreation. In partnership with Shenandoah Wellness Park, the Center has dedicated tracks and sports facilities to offer variety of physical fitness and recreational activities to its members. Pursuits such as climbing, hiking, running, strength training, yoga, biking, socials, meditation and other activities help our members develop and maintain the physical and emotional strength they need to stay sober.
In addition to the mental health benefits, the bonds and camaraderie that form through these shared experiences are strong, meaningful, and long-lasting.
Our Relapse Prevention program involves proven techniques to stop substance abuse and learn new ways of thinking, feeling, and dealing with problems. Drug addiction makes it hard to function in daily life. It affects how you act with your family, at work, and in the community. It is hard to change so many things at once and not fall back into old habits. With our Relapse Prevention program, we make this easier for you.
